Cranes at lac du Der

At Lac du Der lies on the migration route of the continental cranes as they make their way from Sweden and Germany down to Spain, The cranes use it as a stopover to refuil for the rest and up to a 150,000 cranes pass through the lake on their way south west in the autumn and then again on their return in late February.  In recent years, cranes have begun to overwinter at the site too.
